[Source] Medicinal material source: The fruit of Malus dianchiensis, a plant of the Rosaceae family.

[Original form] Dianchi crabapple is a tree, up to 10m tall. The twigs are stout and densely covered with hairs when young, which gradually fall off as they age and are dark purple or purple-brown. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 2-3.5cm long and pubescent; stipules are linear; leaf blades are ovate, broadly ovate to oblong, 6-12cm long, 4-7cm wide, acute at apex, rounded to shallowly cordate at base, with sharp, heavily serrated edges, usually 3-5 shallow lobes on each side of the upper half, nearly glabrous above, densely pubescent beneath. Flowers are bisexual; umbel racemes with 8-12 flowers, peduncle and pedicel densely pubescent; pedicel 1.5-3cm long; flowers white, about 1.5cm in diameter; calyx tube bell-shaped, densely pubescent on the outside; sepals 5 triangular-ovate; petals 5, nearly round, about 8mm long, with short claws at the base; stamens 20-25; styles 5, glabrous at the base. The pear fruit is spherical, 1-1.5cm in diameter, red with white spots, and the calyx lobes are persistent; the fruit pedicel is 2-3cm long. The flowering period is May, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in mixed woods on hillsides or beside valleys at an altitude of 1600-3800m.
