The basal leaves are densely packed and long and ribbon-shaped; the stem leaves are alternate, 1.5 to 2 cm wide, sessile, and sheath-like at the base. It blooms in August, with terminal panicles that are much-branched, and sparsely pubescent with soft hairs on the axis. The flowers are white to light yellow-green; the middle and lower parts of the tepals have purple spots; the bracts are shorter than the pedicels, which are 8 to 15 mm long. The fruit is ovate-triangular and contains many seeds.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on hillside grasslands, thickets or under sparse woods. Distributed in Yunnan Province.
