[Original form] Subshrub, 25-45cm high. With creeping runners; stems usually tufted, covered with rusty fine pubescence and gray-brown scales when young. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 3-10mm long; leaf blade is hard, papery, obovate or elliptical, obtuse or obtusely acute at apex, sparsely scaled at base, with numerous lateral veins, connected into marginal veins near the edge at the tail end. Subumbel inflorescence, solitary in leaf axils, with 3-5 flowers; peduncle is nearly as long as pedicel, about 1 cm long, both covered with sparse soft hairs or brown scales; sepals are triangular ovate, about 1 mm long, with ciliate margins, sometimes with sparse glandular dots; petals are white, broadly ovate, about 3 mm long; stamens are 2/3 of the length of petals, anthers are ovate, acute at apex, with a small tip, and glandular dots on the back; pistil is nearly as long as petals. The fruit is spherical, about 5mm in diameter, changing from red to black, hairless, and without glandular dots. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from October to December.
