1. Introduction to the gills of fish

The gills of the pufffish, also known as the gills of the hornfish or the gills of the fighting fish, are produced in coastal areas and distributed in the waters of the Yellow Sea, East China Sea and South China Sea in my country. Their original animals are the Japanese manta ray, the spineless manta ray, and the two-snouted manta ray. The gill filaments of the pufffish are flat and strip-shaped, generally 5 to 8 cm wide, with varying lengths. The largest ones are more than 30 cm long and 8.5 cm wide. It is usually used for heat and toxicity that has not been cleared after smallpox, irritability, constant cough, scanty milk, sores, boils and swelling.

2. Function

Pengyu gills can relieve sha poison. When children are about to recover from measles, there is often some sha poison left, commonly known as "sha tail", which means that there is a "tail" of disease left after the sha. Common symptoms include heat sores on the lips, carbuncles on the gums, heat toxins in the nostrils, or swelling at the base of the ears, which may develop into ear carbuncle (also known as otitis media in Western medicine). Severe cases may cause pus discharge and take years to heal. Some people also experience dry skin, pimples and itching all over the body after the sha, commonly known as snake skin after the sha. This phenomenon is caused by the sha poison not being cleared away. Eliminating the remaining sha toxins is what doctors pay most attention to in the late stage of treating measles. In the prescriptions, they always use medicines that can clear away sha toxins. The auxiliary treatment at home is to use Pengyu gills to make soup or porridge. Fresh Pengyu gills are not easy to buy in Hong Kong, but you can buy three or five cents of dried Pengyu gills from the herbal medicine shop, which have the same function. Drink it twice in a row and you will see the effect. If the condition is serious, you can eat it for a few more days, which is also beneficial and harmless.

3. Peng Fish Cheek Soup

Material

Half a big fish head, 1 white radish, 1 handful of green bean vermicelli, white pepper, coriander, cooking wine, pork fat (optional)

1. Choose the head of a bighead carp (also known as a bighead carp head, which is relatively large and can be as big as a pot)

2. Heat the pan, add lard or ordinary cooking oil, when the oil is hot, turn on high heat and fry the fish head in the pan.

3. Pour cooking wine on the fish head and the fishy smell will evaporate with the wine.

4. Pour in the ginger slices, then pour in water (the amount of water depends on personal preference, I usually fill it up with water)

5. Add pepper and chopped white radish.

6. Wait for the water to boil for 5-6 minutes, then cover the pot to dissipate some of the fishy smell.

7. After about 20 minutes, the white radish becomes transparent. Pour in the vermicelli and cook for 2 minutes before turning off the heat.

8. Add pepper again, then add salt and sprinkle with coriander.
