China has been praised by Chinese and foreign people as a great country since ancient times. It is not only vast but also rich in resources. Many rare animals and precious medicinal materials grow on this fertile land. These medicinal materials have contributed their own strengths to China's traditional Chinese medicine. It is precisely because of the help of these medicinal materials that the Chinese people can walk into today's prosperous world. Although Western medicine is more widely used in society and has developed better, it still cannot stop the penetration of traditional Chinese medicine into people's lives. People still like to use some precious and effective medicinal materials to treat diseases. Fried Codonopsis is a very good remedy for treating diseases. Effects of Codonopsis pilosula: Tonify the middle, replenish qi, and promote the production of body fluids. Treats spleen and stomach weakness, deficiency of qi and blood, fatigue, poor appetite, thirst, chronic diarrhea, and rectal prolapse. ① "Ben Jing Feng Yuan": Clears the lungs. ② "Compendium of Materia Medica": tonifies the middle and replenishes Qi, harmonizes the spleen and stomach, and eliminates thirst. ③ "Supplement to Compendium of Materia Medica": Treats lung deficiency and replenishes lung qi. ④ "Scientific Folk Herbs": Blood tonic. Suitable for chronic anemia, chlorosis, leukemia, adenopathy, and rickets. ⑤ "Handbook of Chinese Herbal Medicines": Treats asthenia, internal injuries, coldness in the stomach and intestines, diarrhea, chronic dysentery, shortness of breath, thirst, fever, spontaneous sweating, uterine bleeding in women, and various diseases of pregnancy and childbirth. Effects of Codonopsis pilosula: 1. Effect on blood cells Oral administration or subcutaneous injection of alcohol or water extract of Codonopsis root can slightly increase the red blood cells and hemoglobin of normal rabbits; after the spleen is removed, the effect is significantly weakened, so it is speculated that its blood-tonifying effect may be related to the spleen. At this time, the white blood cells tend to decrease. The Codonopsis pilosula extract at a concentration of 1:40 has no hemolysis in the test tube, but after reacting with red blood cells, it may change color, become turbid, and precipitate. 2. Effect on blood sugar Subcutaneous injection of Codonopsis extract into rabbit abdomen can increase blood sugar; however, injection of fermented extract or oral administration has no effect, so it is believed that the increase in blood sugar is due to the high sugar content in the root; it also cannot inhibit the neurogenic hyperglycemia caused by injection of diuretics. According to preliminary experiments, intragastric administration of Codonopsis pilosula can increase blood sugar. 3. Hypotensive effect: Intravenous or intraperitoneal injection of alcohol or water extract can reduce the blood pressure of anesthetized dogs. According to preliminary analysis, it is considered to be peripheral; and it has certain anti-adrenaline effects; its water extract or alcohol or water extract also has the effect of reducing the blood pressure of anesthetized animals and can inhibit the isolated toad heart. For dogs with chronic hypertension, daily oral administration of 4 g (raw drug)/kg of water extract had no hypotensive effect. The root extract or total glycoside of the same plant, fed to rabbits for a long time (40 days), can increase the red blood cell count (17.5%) and body weight (23%); it has preventive and therapeutic effects on leukocytosis caused by turpentine; no pathological changes were found in the internal organs after long-term oral administration. Codonopsis has the function of replenishing both Qi and Yin, replenishing the middle, invigorating Qi, and promoting the production of body fluids. To stir-fry Codonopsis, put bran in a heated pot, add Codonopsis slices when smoke appears on the pot, stir-fry until dark yellow, remove and sieve out the bran, and let it cool. After stir-frying, its function of replenishing the middle and invigorating Qi is enhanced (because wheat has the function of invigorating Qi and nourishing Yin). It can treat spleen and stomach weakness, deficiency of Qi and blood, fatigue, lack of appetite, thirst, chronic diarrhea, rectal prolapse, etc. From the above understanding, we can know that Codonopsis is very effective in treating many diseases. Not only Codonopsis, but also countless other medicinal materials in the history of Chinese medicine have great effects on the human body. When people choose, they should recognize which one is more suitable for them before they go to practice medicine. After all, Chinese and Western medicine have their own characteristics. Only in this way can they better cure diseases. |
