We often call Cassia seed as sheep's horn and sheep's horn, and some call it horse hoof cassia or horse hoof, etc. In fact, they are all the same traditional Chinese medicine. Cassia seed is a common traditional Chinese medicine. Cassia seed can be used for medicinal purposes as well as for food, so the effects and functions of Cassia seed are quite comprehensive. Let's take a look at the effects and functions of Cassia seed below.
Cassia seed has antibacterial properties and can lower our blood pressure. Cassia seed can also lower our blood lipids and has the benefit of anti-platelet aggregation. Cassia seed can enhance our immunity and protect the liver. Cassia seed is also known as "Huantongzi". Cassia seed contains multiple vitamins and rich amino acids, fats, carbohydrates, etc. Its health care function is increasingly valued by people. Cassia seed has the functions of clearing liver fire, removing rheumatism, benefiting the kidneys and improving eyesight. Drinking Cassia seed tea regularly can normalize blood pressure, facilitate bowel movements, and prevent blurred vision. Clinical experiments have shown that drinking Cassia seed tea can clear the liver and improve eyesight, prevent blurred vision, lower blood pressure, lower blood lipids, reduce cholesterol, etc. It has a good effect in preventing and treating coronary heart disease and hypertension. Cassia seed is rich in vitamin A and zinc, which can prevent and treat night blindness and avoid zinc deficiency in children. In addition, the bowel-moistening and laxative function of Cassia Seed Tea can also solve the gastrointestinal and constipation problems of modern people. It can treat dry stools and help smooth bowel movements. The method of brewing Cassia Seed Tea is very simple. Just use 15 to 20 grams of Cassia Seed to brew it with hot water. You can also add an appropriate amount of sugar according to your personal preference and drink it as tea several times a day. If you can add wolfberry and chrysanthemum, the effect will be better. However, Cassia seed is slightly cold in nature, so people who are prone to diarrhea, stomach pain, and so on should not drink this tea. ⒈ Antibacterial effect: Cassia seed alcohol extract has inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus, diphtheria, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, and Escherichia coli, while water extract is ineffective. ⒉ Antifungal: The water extract was diluted by test tube method, 1:20 against Microsporum audouinensis, 1:10 against Trichophyton thunbergii and Microsporum gypseum. ⒊ Antihypertensive: Water extract and ethanol extract have antihypertensive effects on anesthetized dogs, cats and rabbits. ⒋ Lowering blood lipids: Feeding rats with 6g of Cassia seed decoction or Cassia seed powder for 8 weeks can reduce plasma cholesterol and triglycerides in rats with experimental hyperlipidemia, and reduce the triglyceride content in the liver. ⒌ Anti-platelet aggregation: Cassia seed decoction or powder 6g/kg fed to rats for 8 weeks, has an inhibitory effect on ADP-induced platelet aggregation in rats. ⒍Effect on immune function : Subcutaneous injection of 15g/kg of Cassia seed decoction and alcohol precipitation can cause thymus atrophy in mice, significantly reduce the negative rate of ANAE staining of peripheral blood lymphocytes, and inhibit the delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction of mouse skin caused by 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB), but have no obvious effect on serum hemolysin formation. In addition, Cassia seed decoction and alcohol precipitation can significantly increase the percentage and phagocytic index of chicken red blood cells phagocytized by mouse peritoneal macrophages, and the lysozyme level is also significantly higher than that of the control group. ⒎Hepatoprotective effect : Oral administration of 670 mg/kg of Cassia seed hot water extract has a weak detoxification effect on the liver of mice poisoned by carbon tetrachloride. Cassia seed was defatted with petroleum ether, extracted with chloroform, and then extracted with methanol. The results showed that the methanol extract had a significant liver-protecting effect. Further, chrysophanol-1O-triglucoside and chrysophanol-1-O-teglucoside were isolated from it, which had a weak protective effect on liver cells damaged by carbon tetrachloride at 1 mg/ml. It was also found that aloe-emodin had a similar anti-hepatotoxic effect. ⒏ Laxative effect Cassia seed has a laxative effect. The laxative effect of its fluid extract reaches its peak within 3-5 hours after oral administration. The 50% ethanol soluble portion was obtained from the water decoction, and then ethyl acetate and butyric acid were used in sequence to obtain the soluble portion and the water-soluble portion. The butanol fraction with the highest laxative activity was separated into several components using a dextran gel column, and the active components were hydrolyzed with acid to obtain the same chrysophanol, dianthrone and d-glucose. After oral administration of these components, condensation products of nitrosodiphenylamine and anthrone of chrysophanol can be detected in the large intestine, but for mice treated with chloramphenicol to inhibit the proliferation of intestinal bacteria, the laxative activity was halved and the production of anthrone was also reduced. ⒐Effect on gastric juice secretion: Eating Cassia seeds on an empty stomach can promote the secretion of gastric juice. Above we introduced what Cassia seed is. We know that Cassia seed is also called Yangming or Yangjiao, etc. Cassia seed has very comprehensive effects and functions, so we must be good at using the effects of Cassia seed to serve us. Cassia seed can not only be used for medicinal purposes and to make tea, but also to cook porridge. |
