[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water (not suitable for long-term decocting), 0.5-2 qian; or make into pills.

[Properties] Dried fruit, commercially known as "cardamom". It is slightly spherical, with inconspicuous blunt three edges, and about 1.2 to 1.7 cm in diameter. The outer skin is yellowish-white, smooth, with 25 to 32 raised longitudinal lines, a small protrusion at one end, and a fruit stalk mark at the other end; there are often yellow hairs in the grooves at both ends. The fruit skin is light and brittle, easily split longitudinally, and contains 20 to 30 seeds gathered into a cluster commonly known as "koji ball". The cardamom ball is divided into three lobes with a white septum. Each lobe contains 7 to 10 seeds, commonly known as "white cardamom kernels" or "cardamom rice". It is an irregular polyhedron with a diameter of 3 to 4 mm. The surface is dark brown or gray-brown with fine ripples and a small round depression at one end. It is hard, white in cross section and oily. It has a fragrant aroma and a spicy and cool taste. The best ones are those that are plump, have thin and complete skin and a strong aroma.
