[Source] Medicinal material source: It is the root of Osmanthus fragrans, a plant of the Polygalaceae family.

[Original form] Osmanthus fragrans is a shrub or small tree, 1-5m high. The root is woody, with fleshy bark, light brown in color and light yellow inside. The stem is erect. Branchlets cylindrical, sometimes with longitudinal ridges, densely pubescent. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is about 1m long, pubescent; leaves are papery, elliptic or oblong-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, 6.5-14cm long, 2-2.5cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate or obtuse, entire, ciliate, green above, light green below, sparsely pubescent on both sides when young; main vein is slightly concave on the upper surface, raised on the back, 5-6 lateral veins on each side. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The capsule is broadly reniform to slightly heart-shaped, berry-like, about 10mm long and 13mm wide. The flowering period is from May to October, and the fruiting period is from June to November.

Take 1 ml of the filtrate, add 2-3 drops of hydroxylamine hydrochloride methanol solution, add 2-3 drops of potassium hydroxide methanol solution, boil slightly in a water bath, cool, adjust the pH to 3-4 with dilute hydrochloric acid, add 1-2 drops of ferric chloride ethanol solution, shake, and the solution turns purple-red.
