Prunella vulgaris, also known as iron-colored grass and sheep intestines, is a very common herb. It usually grows in ravines, roadsides, and wastelands. It is also a very common Chinese herbal medicine. Plants like this have great medicinal value and can treat many diseases. Prunella vulgaris also has many functions. It is a good medicine for liver protection and has been widely circulated. Do you know what Prunella Vulgaris is? It is a wild plant with many functions, especially its protective effect on our liver, which has been widely recognized. Prunella Vulgaris has many other functions. Let's take a look at its functions. Medicinal Function and indications Prunella vulgaris is cold in nature, sweet, pungent and slightly bitter in taste. It has the effects of clearing liver fire, dispersing nodules and reducing swelling, clearing away heat and detoxifying, removing phlegm and relieving cough, cooling blood and stopping bleeding. It is suitable for lymph tuberculosis, goiter, mastitis, dizziness, facial paralysis, muscle and bone pain, pulmonary tuberculosis, metrorrhagia, leucorrhea, acute infectious icteric hepatitis and bacterial dysentery. Modern pharmacological research shows that Prunella Vulgaris can lower blood pressure and dilate blood vessels. The rutin it contains has anti-inflammatory effects, and can reduce vascular permeability, reduce fragility, and reduce liver fat. Prunella vulgaris also has the effect of resisting cancer cells. Pharmacological Action Effects on the cardiovascular system Prunella Vulgaris decoction (concentration of 1:100,000 to 1:1,000,000) can increase the contraction amplitude of in situ rabbit hearts and isolated frog hearts, but increasing the concentration (1:20 to 1:50) will reduce the contraction amplitude. The water extract, ethanol water extract and 30% ethanol extract of Prunella vulgaris can lower blood pressure when injected intraperitoneally, intravenously or orally into anesthetized animals. The antihypertensive effect of intravenous injection is more obvious, while the antihypertensive effect of oral administration is weak. The decoction (100 mg/kg) injected into anesthetized dogs can produce a significant and lasting antihypertensive effect, but there is a rapid tolerance phenomenon. After cutting off the vagus nerve, its antihypertensive effect is significantly weakened. For dogs with renal hypertension, after continuous medication for 2 weeks, the blood pressure has a moderate decrease, and returns to the original level after stopping the medication. The stems, leaves, spikes and whole grass of Prunella vulgaris all have antihypertensive effects, but the effect of the spikes is weaker. Anti-pathogenic microorganisms In vitro experiments show that the decoction of Prunella vulgaris has a certain inhibitory effect on Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, Vibrio cholerae, Escherichia coli, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Prunella vulgaris can alleviate lung lesions in experimental tuberculosis mice. Fresh juice of Prunella vulgaris has inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus, beta-hemolytic Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The water extract (1:4) also has varying degrees of inhibitory effects on some common pathogenic skin fungi such as Trichophyton thunbergii and Microsporum audouinii in vitro. Immunosuppressive effects Experiments show that subcutaneous injection of 6g (raw drug)/kg of Prunella Vulgaris injection can significantly enlarge the adrenal glands of guinea pigs and mice, and significantly atrophy the thymus and spleen. Intramuscular injection of 3g (raw drug)/kg of Prunella Vulgaris water decoction and alcohol precipitation (1:1) can increase the weight of the adrenal glands of rats, while reducing the weight of the thymus and spleen. The thymus is significantly atrophied, with an average weight reduction of 63.4% compared with the control group. In addition, it can also change the tissue structure of the adrenal cortex, thymus and spleen. Everyone should be aware of the effects of Prunella Vulgaris. Some common wild plants have many medicinal values and are also components of common Chinese herbal medicine. Prunella Vulgaris can clear liver fire and protect the liver very well. Everyone should know the importance of the liver to us. It can detoxify very well. Everyone should protect their liver. |
