Erythromycin eye ointment

Erythromycin eye ointment

Erythromycin eye ointment is a relatively common medicine. Generally, if the patient has symptoms of eye inflammation, the doctor will prescribe erythromycin eye ointment. It can be seen that erythromycin eye ointment is very effective in treating these eye inflammations. And generally when prescribing the medicine, the doctor will tell you about the usage and dosage of erythromycin eye ointment. This is mainly to prevent unsafe things from happening.

Although erythromycin eye ointment is an eye medication and is mainly used in the eyes, you should be careful not to let the ointment get into the eyes during use, because the ointment contains certain irritating ingredients that can easily irritate the eyeball.

Erythromycin eye ointment is an external antibiotic. Long-term use can cause bacteria to develop drug resistance, which will affect the effectiveness of future external use. This is often referred to as poor efficacy after infection with resistant strains. Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic whose mechanism of action is to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. It has antibacterial effects on Gram-positive bacteria and Chlamydia trachomatis. However, long-term use is not recommended. Once the symptoms of the disease are relieved or cured, the drug should be stopped promptly. It can also be used in combination with other topical medications for treatment.

When using erythromycin eye ointment, first squeeze the ointment out of the tube. Do not use too little, the length should be about 5 mm. Use your hands to pull open the lower eyelid and squeeze it directly into the lower eyelid (lower eyelid). Then close your eyes immediately and the ointment will not come out. If you feel a foreign body sensation, you can gently massage the lower eyelid. The ointment inside the eyelid will slowly melt and there will be no foreign body sensation. When you sleep, your eyeballs will move and the medicine will naturally spread to the inside of the eye. Therefore, you don't need to apply it on the upper eyelid.

In addition to being used for eye inflammation, erythromycin eye ointment can also be used in other places. For example, some babies use diapers for a long time, which will cause the skin on the buttocks to be airtight, and symptoms such as redness or itching will appear. At this time, applying a moderate amount of erythromycin eye ointment can very effectively help improve inflammation.
