What is the function of human albumin

Speaking of human albumin, many friends don’t know what it is. This is normal. After all, it is mainly used to treat diseases, and it is used to treat some bleeding trauma or burns, as well as patients with kidney and liver diseases. This medicine is not used in daily life. Moreover, the extraction method of human serum albumin is also very special. The raw material is healthy human blood, so it is also called life pharmaceutical.

It is precisely because of its different extraction methods that the role of human serum albumin has attracted much attention. So what are the functions and effects of human albumin? In order to give you a more detailed understanding of the role of human albumin, this article will introduce it to you in detail.

The role of human albumin:

1. Increase blood volume and maintain plasma colloid osmotic pressure: Albumin accounts for 80% of plasma colloid osmotic pressure and mainly regulates the dynamic balance of water between tissues and blood vessels. Due to the high molecular weight of albumin, its speed of passing through the membrane is slower than that of salts and water, so that the colloidal osmotic pressure of albumin counteracts the static pressure of the capillaries, thereby maintaining normal and constant blood volume; at the same time, in the blood circulation, 1g of albumin can retain 18ml of water. The ability of every 5g of albumin to retain water in the circulation is approximately equivalent to the function of 100ml of plasma or 200ml of whole blood, thereby increasing the circulating blood volume and maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure of plasma.

2. Transport and detoxification: Albumin can bind to both anions and cations, and can transport different substances, as well as toxic substances to detoxification organs.

3. Nutritional supply: Tissue protein and plasma protein can be converted into each other. When nitrogen metabolism is impaired, albumin can serve as a nitrogen source to provide nutrition for tissues.

Now you understand the role of human albumin, but this drug is not suitable for patients with hypertension and severe anemia. This is something you need to pay attention to. In addition, when using human albumin to treat diseases, you must pay attention to the simultaneous use of other drugs with similar functions such as vasoconstriction, so as not to cause harm to the patient's body.
