Leaves petiolate, blade ovate-lanceolate to long triangular, 2.5-12 cm long, 2-4.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, truncate, halberd-shaped or rarely cordate, usually with shallow or deep teeth, rarely entire, sometimes finely lobed or pinnately lobed, with at least 1-3 pairs of smaller lateral lobes toward the base, both surfaces pubescent to glabrous; pinnately venated, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, arcuate, veins obvious;

It is produced in Tibet, Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan and other provinces and regions in China. It is also found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, the Philippines and Japan.

Function and indications

Clears away heat and detoxifies; improves eyesight and removes cataracts; kills insects and relieves itching. Mainstream cold; upper respiratory tract infection; pneumonia; acute tonsillitis; costitis; acute enteritis; bacillary dysentery; icteric hepatitis; cholecystitis; acute urinary tract infection; red, swollen and painful eyes with cataract; carbuncle, furuncle and poison; erysipelas; eczema; dry and wet tinea sores; trichomoniasis vaginitis; burns and scalds.
