It is traditionally used to treat symptoms such as yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, hot flashes and night sweats, dry mouth and sore throat, tinnitus and spermatorrhea, and short and red urine. Zhibai Dihuang Wan is based on Liuwei Dihuang Wan, with Zhimu and Huangbai added. These two medicines are heat-clearing medicines, so on the basis of nourishing yin, we add some heat-clearing medicines. Clinically, if the person has symptoms of false fire, we will use Zhibai Dihuang Pills. Zhibai Dihuang Wan is composed of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, Phellodendron chinense, Rehmannia glutinosa, Cornus officinalis, Paeonia lactiflora, Dioscorea batatas, Poria cocos, and Alisma orientalis.

· Anemarrhena asphodeloides--clears heat and purges fire, promotes the production of body fluids and relieves dryness. It is used for exogenous febrile diseases, high fever and thirst, lung heat and dry cough, bone steaming and hot flashes, internal heat and thirst, and dry intestines and constipation.

· Huangbai -- clears away heat and dampness, purges fire and eliminates steam, detoxifies and treats sores. It is used for diarrhea caused by damp heat, jaundice, leucorrhea, pyretic stranguria, beriberi, paralysis, bone steaming and fatigue fever, night sweats, spermatorrhea, sores and swelling, and eczema and itching. Salt and Phellodendron chinense nourish yin and reduce fire. Used for yin deficiency, hyperactivity of fire, night sweats and bone steaming.

·Rehmannia root--Nourishes yin and blood, replenishes essence and marrow. Used for liver and kidney yin deficiency, soreness of waist and knees, bone steaming, hot flashes, night sweats and spermatorrhea. Internal heat and thirst, blood deficiency and sallow complexion, palpitations, irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia, dizziness, tinnitus, and premature graying of hair.

Cornus officinalis-tonifies the liver and kidneys, astringes semen and prevents premature ejaculation. It is used for vertigo, tinnitus, soreness of waist and knees, impotence and spermatorrhea, enuresis and frequent urination, metrorrhagia and leukorrhea, profuse sweating and collapse, internal heat and thirst.

Peony bark-clears heat and cools blood, promotes blood circulation and removes blood stasis. It is used for rashes caused by warm toxins, vomiting blood and dirty blood, night heat and morning coolness, no sweat and bone steaming, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, carbuncles, sores, and pains from falls.
