[Source] It is the root and rhizome of the plant Litsea cubeba of the Lauraceae family. Dig it up between September and October, wash it and dry it in the sun.

[Habitat distribution] Produced in Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan and other places.

[Properties] The root is conical, brown in surface, with longitudinal wrinkles and granular protrusions, obvious ducts in cross section, light and bubbly, easy to break, and light black in cross section. Fragrant smell, spicy taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy, warm.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness, regulate qi and relieve pain. Treat colds, rheumatism, stomachache, and athlete's foot.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 2-5 qian (0.5-2 liang for fresh); or grind into powder. For external use: decoct in water and wash.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat colds, headaches, rheumatic bone pains: 50 cents to 1 ounce of the roots and stems of Litsea cubeba. Decoction in water. (Guangxi Chinese Herbal Medicine)

[Remarks] This product is used in Sichuan Province in the same way as the roots of Litsea cubeba and Litsea cubeba, which belong to the same genus, collectively known as "Litsea cubeba root". See the entries for "Litsea cubeba" and "Piper oxyphylla".
