[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Cinnamomum hainanensis of the Lauraceae family.

[Original form] Hainan new camphor shrub, 3-4m high. The branches are cylindrical and striped, densely covered with rusty soft hairs when young, which then gradually fall off; the buds are small, with thick bud scales, densely covered with rusty rough hairs. Leaves are alternate, sometimes nearly opposite on young branches; petiole 1-1.5cm long, densely rusty pubescent; leaf blade ovate to broadly ovate, (5.5-)8-12cm long, (2.5-)4-7.5cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, nearly rounded or nearly truncate, hard papery, densely rusty pubescent on both sides when young. When old, the upper part is almost hairless except for the veins, while the lower part is still densely covered with rusty short soft hairs. Infructescence axillary, solitary, with peduncle 2-5mm long; fruit elliptic-ovoid, 1.5-2cm long, perianth segments persistent, densely covered with rusty short soft hairs on both sides, fleshy and thickened; pedicel thickens upward. The flowering period is August, and the fruiting period is from October to May of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in dense forests or beside ditches in valleys.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness; relax muscles and activate blood circulation; promote qi circulation and relieve pain. Mainly used for rheumatic pain, back pain, postpartum muscle and bone pain, stomach pain, diarrhea, and traumatic injuries

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g.
