Speaking of the traditional Chinese medicine Wuyao, I'm sure many people have never heard of it. The nutritional value of Wuyao is relatively high. This medicine can be taken all year round. It is a warm tonic medicine that can effectively treat abdominal pain and diarrhea, and it can also remove the cold in the body. However, all medicines are toxic, so Wuyao also has some side effects. So what are the toxic side effects of Wuyao? Is the Chinese medicine Wuyao poisonous? Wuyao, the name of a traditional Chinese medicine. It is the dried tuberous root of Linderae odorifera, a plant of the Lauraceae family. It can be dug up all year round, removed the fine roots, washed, sliced while fresh, and dried in the sun, or directly dried in the sun. This product is mostly spindle-shaped, slightly curved, and some are contracted into a bead-like shape in the middle, 6 to 15 cm long and 1 to 3 cm in diameter. The surface is yellow-brown or yellow-brown, with longitudinal wrinkles and sparse fine root marks. Hard texture. The slice thickness is 0.2 to 2 mm, the cut surface is yellow-white or light yellow-brown, the rays are radial, and meridian annular patterns can be seen, with a darker color in the center. It has a fragrant aroma, slightly bitter and spicy taste, and a cooling feeling. Wu Yao has the effects of promoting qi and relieving pain, warming the kidney and dispersing cold. It is mainly used to treat cold stagnation and qi stagnation, chest and abdominal distension and pain, qi reversal and rapid wheezing, cold bladder, enuresis and frequent urination, hernia pain, and abdominal pain due to cold menstruation. 1. Treat abdominal pain. It is suitable for those who suffer from umbilical and abdominal pain with intestinal rumbling or sugary stools (cold pain, which can be seen in gastrointestinal and kidney meridian functional disorders or mild obstruction caused by intestinal adhesions, etc.). You can use Atractylodes lancea with Cyperus rotundus, such as Xiangwu Powder, or with costus root, agarwood, tangerine peel, Magnolia bark, Atractylodes lancea, roasted malt, etc., and it is called Exhaust Gas Soup. This soup has the effect of discharging gas and relieving pain. Animal experiments have confirmed that its principle is to strengthen intestinal contraction and accelerate peristalsis, thereby helping to dispel gas and relieve pain. The main effective drugs in the prescription are Linderae umbellatae and Costusroot lappa. 2. Treat cold hernia. For patients with pain in the navel and abdomen caused by small intestinal hernia pain, epididymitis, etc., you can use Wuyao combined with Qi-regulating and cold-relieving drugs to promote Qi circulation, dispel cold and relieve pain, such as Tiantai Wuyao Powder. 3. To treat frequent urination due to deficiency and cold, take equal parts of Alpinia oxyphylla and make pills with yam paste as big as sycamore seeds. Take 6g at first, 2 to 3 times a day with warm water. 4. Treat menstrual pain caused by qi stagnation. If it is pain in the late stage of menstruation, it is treated with agarwood, Corydalis yanhusuo, angelica, and cinnamon; if it is premenstrual abdominal pain, it is often treated with costus root, Amomum villosum, and Cyperus rotundus. In addition, for patients with diarrhea who have dull pain after diarrhea, adding Linderae odoratum to the prescription can help relieve the pain. Linderae odoratum has also been tried for treating precordial pain caused by vasculitis and coronary artery sclerosis. It can be combined with Ilex tomentosa, Millettia reticulata, Angelica sinensis, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Lonicera japonica. Preliminary observations show that it has a certain analgesic effect. It is said that "all medicines are poisonous to some extent", and Wuyao is no exception. What are the side effects of Wuyao? Of course, within the standard dosage range of Wuyao, Wuyao does not have any toxic side effects. But this does not mean that everyone is suitable for taking Wuyao. There are still some contraindications in taking Wuyao. For example, patients with qi deficiency and internal heat cannot take Wuyao. If this type of patient mistakenly takes Wuyao, not only will its medicinal properties not work but it may also cause adverse reactions. Of course, pregnant women should be cautious about taking Wuyao. |
