The gallbladder is the residence of purity. It likes tranquility and hates disturbance. If the gallbladder is disturbed by evil and loses its tranquility, the person will be timid and easily frightened, restless and unable to sleep, have many strange dreams at night, and be frightened and uneasy; if the gallbladder and stomach are not in harmony and the stomach cannot descend, the person will vomit phlegm or have hiccups and palpitations; if phlegm obscures the clear orifices, the person may suffer from dizziness or even epilepsy. The treatment is suitable for regulating qi and resolving phlegm, harmonizing the stomach and promoting bile secretion.

In the formula, Pinellia ternata is pungent and warm, and can dry out dampness, resolve phlegm, harmonize the stomach and stop vomiting, so it is the main medicine. I use bamboo shavings, which are sweet and slightly cold, and can clear away heat, resolve phlegm, relieve restlessness and stop vomiting. Pinellia ternata and Rhizoma Anemarrhenae are used together, one warming and the other cooling, and they can resolve phlegm and harmonize the stomach, stop vomiting and relieve restlessness; Tangerine peel is pungent and warm, and can regulate Qi and relieve stagnation, dry out dampness and resolve phlegm; Citrus aurantium is pungent and slightly cold, and can descend Qi and relieve stagnation, eliminate phlegm and relieve abdominal distension. It is supplemented with Poria cocos to strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness to stop the source of phlegm; ginger and jujube are added to the decoction to harmonize the spleen and stomach, and ginger can also control the toxicity of Pinellia ternata.
