[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Venus fern, a plant of the Venus fern family.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 40-60cm. The rhizome is long and horizontal, with sparse yellow-brown, lanceolate scales on the top. Leaves are sub-or distal; petiole 15-20cm long, straw-colored, slightly black at base and sparsely scaly, not shallowly grooved above, densely covered with short gray-white needle-shaped hairs; leaf blade herbaceous, lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 20-40cm long, 5-10cm wide, acuminate at apex and pinnate-lobed, base not narrowed, covered with orange-yellow spherical glands and short hairs below, with a few short needle-shaped dense hairs on both sides of rachis and rachis, pinnate-lobed twice; pinnae 10-15 pairs, alternate, slightly oblique upward, sessile, oblong-lanceolate, 3-6cm long, 1-1.5cm wide, acuminate or long acuminate at apex, truncate at base, 1 pair at base not shortened; lobes 14-18 pairs, 3-6mm long, 2-2.5mm wide, obtuse or rounded at apex, entire; venation on lobes is pinnate, lateral veins are single, 1 pair at base emerges from base of midrib. The sori are small, round, and borne dorsally near the tip of the lateral veins, close to the leaf edge; the sori cover is large, kidney-shaped, and has grayish-white bristles.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under sparse woods or on roadsides at an altitude of 50-1500m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; acts as a diuretic; stops bleeding. Mainly used for burns, vomiting blood, dysentery, urinary incontinence, and bleeding from trauma

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
