Morinda officinalis and Eucommia ulmoides stewed with oxtail

Ingredients: 800g peeled oxtail, 25g Morinda officinalis, 20g Eucommia ulmoides, 6 black dates, 1 piece of tangerine peel, 6 longan pulps, 1 teaspoon of wolfberry (about 10 pieces), 1 teaspoon of white peppercorns (5g), 1 teaspoon of salt (5g)

Chop the oxtail into large pieces, blanch it with boiling water to remove the blood, wash and drain.

Rinse the Morinda officinalis, Eucommia ulmoides, black dates, tangerine peel, longan pulp and wolfberry with clean water, then drain and set aside.

Pour 3800ml of water into the pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Then add all the ingredients (wolfberry and salt are reserved), bring to a boil again and then simmer on low heat for 3 hours.

Finally, add wolfberry and simmer for another 30 minutes. Add salt to taste before serving.

The efficacy and function of Morinda officinalis

It tastes sweet and spicy, and is slightly warm in nature. It can replenish kidney yang, strengthen muscles and bones, and eliminate rheumatism. It is mainly used to treat kidney deficiency, impotence, infertility, rheumatic pain, soreness of waist and knees, and difficulty in walking.

How to buy Morinda officinalis

The root is flat and cylindrical, slightly curved. The surface is grayish yellow or dark gray, with longitudinal and transverse cracks. The cortex sometimes breaks off transversely, exposing the wood in a knotty shape. It is tough in texture, with thick bark in cross section, purple or lavender, easily separated from the wood, which is yellow-brown or yellow-white in color. Odorless, tastes sweet and slightly astringent.
