When the White Dew arrives, the grass gradually turns to autumn colors, and foxtail grass sways by the roadside. It was a cloudy day, and the sun cast a beam of light through the clouds, and the light and shadow fell on a clump of pink grass. It doesn’t have the warmth of spring, nor the heat of summer, but the pink of autumn sets off the green grass, bringing life and vigor. These are two clumps of Amaranthus. The name is very unique, "Qing", sesame leaves are also named Qing, and this grass is mostly grown in sesame fields, so it has the same name as sesame, "葙" may be the same as sesame, accompanying it, accompanying it, and growing together! Li Shizhen described Celosia amaranthus as follows: "Celosia amaranthus grows in the fields. The young seedlings are edible and resemble amaranth, and can grow up to three or four feet tall. The seedlings, leaves, flowers and fruits are the same as cockscomb. However, the cockscomb spikes can be large and flat, or rounded. In this case, flower spikes emerge from the tips, with the tip four or five inches long, shaped like a rabbit's tail, water red, and also yellow and white. The seeds are in the spikes, and are as difficult to distinguish as cockscombs and amaranth seeds." The plant that Li Shizhen paid so much attention to is also a medicine called "Celosia amaranthus seeds", which are used as medicine to treat eye diseases, and have the same effect as Cassia seeds and Amaranth seeds. Nature and flavor properties: cold in nature, sweet and slightly bitter in taste, non-toxic. Functions and indications: The seeds are used to treat red, swollen and painful eyes, cataracts, hypertension, epistaxis, itching of the skin due to wind-heat, and scabies. Dispel wind-heat and clear liver fire. Treats blue lips and mouth. It is used to treat malignant sores, scabies and itching, and insect sores on the lower body. Strengthens tendons and bones, removes wind, cold, dampness and arthralgia; Inflorescence: Clears the liver and cools the blood, brightens the eyes and removes cataracts. Treat vomiting blood, headache, red eyes, hematuria, irregular menstruation, leucorrhea; Stems, leaves and roots: drying dampness and clearing heat, stopping bleeding and killing insects. It is used to treat itching due to wind-heat, scabies, hemorrhoids, bleeding from trauma, red and swollen eyes, keratitis, corneal opacity, vertigo, and itching of the skin due to wind-heat. In the wild fields of Pinggu, the naturally grown "pheasant comb" flowers are not as flat and broad as cockscombs, but they are still brightly colored. It is most appropriate to describe them as light makeup evenly applied. They are the true temperament of a lady who does not like heavy makeup and rouge, but has a hint of pink in her bones. She does not like prosperity. When you stand in the wild fields, you will see more inflorescences growing in the axils of leaves in the grass, a shy beauty. The bleakness of autumn is no longer plain and elegant with its arrival, but has a little bright halo. |
