Gum swelling, fever, cough; sore throat; jaundice caused by cold and dampness; dysentery; gonorrhea; rheumatic arthralgia; vomiting blood; hemoptysis; bleeding due to trauma; scabies and malignant ulcers 1. Ben Jing: "It cures dampness in the five internal organs, wind-cold-dampness arthralgia, replenishes Qi, makes hair thicker and blacker. It cures anxiety, lack of appetite and constant hunger." 2. Meng Shen: "Crush the juice to remove heat, jaundice and heartache. Dried leaves are ground into powder. Mix one spoonful with rice drink and eat on an empty stomach for summer dysentery. Burn the ash and boil it to treat stranguria." Gum Usage Directions: Dosage: Oral: decoction, 10-15g, double the amount for fresh; or mash into juice; or grind into powder. Effects of Artemisia: 1. To treat leprosy and sores all over the body: take 10 bundles of white wormwood as big as a liter, boil them to extract the juice, add koji and rice, and make it the same as making wine. Wait until it is cooked and drink it in small amounts. (from Monk Shen Ji Fang) 2. Treatment of subacute bacterial dysentery: Take 2 liang of fresh Artemisia annua or 1 liang of dried slices and decoct in water. Take it in 2 to 3 times, 1 dose per day, and one course of treatment is 5 to 7 days; or make it into oral liquid or tablets for oral administration. A total of 100 cases were treated, 70 of which had significant effects (clinical cure within 3 days), 23 had reasonable effects (clinical cure within 4 to 7 days), and the cure rate was 93%. According to the observation of some medical records, after taking the medicine, the body temperature recovered in an average of 1.35 days, the bowel movement recovered in 2.12 days, the abdominal pain disappeared in 1.55 days, and the anal prolapse disappeared in 1.68 days; the average time for stool microscopy to recover and the bacteria to turn negative was 3.02 days and 5.65 days respectively. The efficacy seems to be higher than that of Scutellaria baicalensis, Furazolidone, and Synthromycin. The efficacy of oral liquid and tablets seems to be worse than that of decoction. 3. Choleretic effect Artemisia has significant choleretic and jaundice-relieving effects. Artemisia white can continuously increase the total bile flow in patients with cholelithiasis, reduce the cholesterol component in bile, and prevent the formation of cholesterol stones. Whether it is done on normal animals or on rats with liver damage induced by CCl4, it has the effect of promoting bile secretion and metabolism. 4. Liver protection effect Induce liver enzymes, enhance the liver's detoxification function, maintain the details of liver cytoplasm and promote liver regeneration. It can reduce the level of blood transaminase, relieve liver swelling, ballooning, fatty degeneration and necrosis. Ingredients such as Artemisia capillaris chromone, 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin, and Artemisia capillaris flavonoids all have liver-protecting effects. 5. Inhibit pathogenic bacteria It has a significant inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus outside the body. It has a certain inhibitory effect on Shigella dysenteriae, hemolytic streptococcal infection, Pneumococcus, diphtheria, bovine and human tuberculosis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, pathogenic floccules, and skin fungi such as Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus nitidus. The antibacterial specific components of Artemisia annua are mainly capillary ketone, p-hydroxyacetophenone and other volatile oil components. 6. Effects on blood vessels Lowering blood lipids and preventing aortic atherosclerosis Artemisia annua can reduce blood cell cholesterol and β-protein in animals with hyperlipidemia, significantly reduce the cholesterol component in the pulmonary artery wall, and alleviate atherosclerotic plaque degeneration of the aortic wall. 7. Antipyretic, analgesic, anti-infection Artemisia annua has a significant antipyretic effect on the fever induced by mixed typhoid vaccine in rabbits. 6,7-Dimethylesculin in Artemisia annua has a certain degree of analgesic effect on the pain models of mice induced by the hot plate method and the acetic acid writhing method, and has an inhibitory effect on the swelling of the metatarsal joints of mice induced by carrageenan. |
