Sedum is also known as half-branch lotus, dog's teeth, melon seed grass, sunflower sedum, centipede grass, etc. It is a succulent plant of the genus Sedum in the Crassulaceae family. The stem is creeping and easy to root. It creeps and roots on the nodes until under the inflorescence, and can be up to 10-25 cm long. 3 leaves are arranged in whorls, oblanceolate to oblong, 15-28 mm long and 3-7 mm wide.

The creeping grass has strong adaptability and can generally be found in the crevices of rocks on hillsides, in the edges of ravines, and in moist places by rivers. It is very easy to cultivate and has low requirements for the environment. It can be planted in front of or behind houses. Moreover, when placed on the balcony, it can cast a curtain of "green shadow", which is extremely beautiful, making it a very popular potted plant.

But in fact, the creeping grass is a traditional Chinese medicine. The whole plant is used as medicine. It is sweet, light, slightly sour and cool in nature, and enters the liver, lung and large intestine meridians. It has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, promoting dampness and protecting the liver, discharging pus and promoting tissue regeneration. Indications: Damp-heat jaundice;

Gonorrhea; diarrhea; lung abscess; intestinal abscess; sores, boils, swelling and poison; snake and insect bites; burns from water or fire; sore throat; oral ulcers and eczema; herpes zoster, etc.

Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Scutellaria baicalensis has a significant liver-protecting effect and cannot effectively lower serum transaminase. In clinical practice, this product alone is used to treat infectious hepatitis (including acute icteric hepatitis, acute non-icteric hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, and active stage of chronic hepatitis). It has a certain effect on lowering serum transaminase, and can reduce or eliminate the patient's symptoms of damp-heat such as bitter taste in the mouth, poor appetite, and yellow and red urine.
