What are the identification methods of Cistanche deserticola

my country is very particular about the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture are all traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine attaches great importance to traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine can be said to regard traditional Chinese medicine as a vital one. Each traditional Chinese medicine has a special utilization value. It can also prevent many diseases for the body. Cistanche is a very common traditional Chinese medicine. The main shape is special and it is difficult to identify. So what are the identification methods of Cistanche?

Key points of identification: The difference between Cistanche deserticola and its fake product Cistanche tubulosa is that the former is flat cylindrical, densely covered with scales, soft and fleshy, brown-black in cross section, and the vascular bundles are arranged in waves; while the fake products are fusiform, flat ovate or flat columnar in shape, covered with scales that often fall off at the tip, hard and heavy in texture, difficult to break, granular in cross section, and the vascular bundles are scattered in dots, which can be used to distinguish them.

Identification of famous classics

①Han Dynasty Shennong's Herbal Classic: "Rice floss is sweet and slightly warm. It cures five kinds of fatigue and seven kinds of injuries, replenishes the middle, eliminates cold, heat and pain in the stem, nourishes the five internal organs, strengthens yin, and benefits essence and qi. It grows in valleys and mountains."

② Liang Dynasty's "Famous Doctors' Records" says: "Cistanche grows in the mountains and valleys of Hexi and Yanmen in Dai County. It is picked on May 5th and dried in the shade."

③ Tao Hongjing said: "Yanmen in Dai County belongs to Bingzhou. It can be found in places with many horses. It is said that it is born from the wild horse spirit falling to the ground. It looks like meat when it is alive, but it is very good for making mutton soup to replenish deficiency, and it can also be eaten raw. Rui Rui is most abundant in Henan. Now the first one comes from Longxi, which is flat and wide, soft and moist with many flowers and sweet taste. The second one comes from the north, which is short and has few flowers. It can also be found in Badong and Jianping, but it is not good."

④Su Gong of the Tang Dynasty said: "This is about Cistanche deserticola, but Tao has not seen the flesh. Nowadays, people use Cistanche deserticola with the flowers removed, which is used instead of Cistanche deserticola, but its efficacy is slightly inferior."

⑤ Han Baolinsheng of the Five Dynasties said: "It is found in the sand of Fulu County, Suzhou. The roots are dug in March and April. They are more than one foot long. Cut the good ones in the center, which are three or four inches long, string them together and dry them in the shade. They are good in August. The skin has pine nut scales and can be used. There is also Cistanche deserticola, which is harvested in mid-April. It is five or six inches to one foot long, and the stem is round and purple."

⑥ Song Dynasty? Su Song said: "Now there are many of them in Shaanxi prefectures and counties, but they are not as good as those from the Western Qiang area, which have thick flesh and strong strength. In the past, it was said that they were born from the remains of wild horses, but now people in the West say that they grow mostly among big trees and in earthen trenches, so we know that there are different species. If you pick them in May, you may be too old to use them, so they are mostly picked in March."

⑦ Yuan Dynasty Zhu Zhenheng said: "After the unification of Hexi, its true form is now known. There is no so-called scale use. Because Cistanche is rare, people often use golden lotus roots in a salt basin to make it, and also use Cistanche deserticola as a substitute. Those who use it should be careful."

⑧ Ming Dynasty? "Compendium of Materia Medica Mengquan": "Cistanche deserticola, Shaanxi Province, grows where horse lichrysanthemums fall to the ground. Dried cistanche deserticola is collected on Dragon Boat Festival, soaked in wine first, brushed to remove the floating shells, and split to remove the endocardial tendons. There is also Cistanche deserticola, which grows in cliffs and rocks. Its roots are like newly born lotus roots. It is also called Lie Dang in "Ben Jing". It is similar to warming and nourishing, although its efficacy is inferior. It can also be flattened to pretend to be the previous medicine. Anyone who uses it must be careful and detailed."

⑨Qing Dynasty, "Compendium of Materia Medica Congxin": "Cistanche deserticola. It grows as big as an arm and weighs about a pound. The ones with pine nut scales are good."

Quick identification 1. Dandayun: The fleshy stem is flat and cylindrical, slightly curved, or cut into short sections. 10-30cm long, 3-6cm in diameter. The surface is gray-brown or brown, densely covered with thick fleshy scales arranged in a shingle-like manner. The texture is soft and fleshy, the cross section is brown-black, with light brown dot-like vascular bundles arranged in wavy rings. Slight smell, sweet taste, slightly bitter.

Although it is rather troublesome to identify and distinguish the traditional Chinese medicine Cistanche, and perhaps it is difficult for many friends who do not understand it to learn the identification method all at once, we can tell whether the Cistanche is the real one by its taste and its appearance color and shape. Once you have learned the above identification methods, you will no longer buy fake medicines.
