When boiling Chinese medicine, many people will find that due to various reasons, they cannot finish it all at once, but the Chinese medicine cannot be left casually. If taken for the second time, it may become sour or cause other problems. Especially in summer, we need to pay more attention to its preservation techniques. Let’s take a closer look at the preservation methods of Chinese medicine in summer. Ginseng: Store in classified forms and keep away from moisture. Ginseng is known as the "king of qi tonic" and has been a precious medicinal material since ancient times. It is divided into red ginseng and white ginseng. Red ginseng is generally not easily eaten by insects, but it must be kept dry. When drying, it must be covered with white paper to prevent discoloration. It can be stored in a sealed wooden box or porcelain bottle. White ginseng (raw sun-dried ginseng or sugared ginseng) is prone to insect infestation and discoloration due to moisture. Insect infestation often occurs on the upper part of the main root and the rhizome (reed head). Ginseng that has been exposed to moisture should be dried in time and stored in a sealed porcelain bottle to maintain its original color. During the rainy season, it is best to refrigerate it in the refrigerator. It can also be placed in a quicklime jar, but it should not come into direct contact with the quicklime, and it is not advisable to put too much quicklime (about 1/4 of the container is enough). If the ginseng is too dry, it will easily break and cause loss. In addition, after American ginseng is dried, it should also be stored in a cool and sealed place. Cordyceps sinensis: Place on moisture-proof paper to prevent mildew. Cordyceps sinensis is prone to mold, so it is usually placed in a ventilated and cool place to dry, then put into a wooden box, padded with moisture-proof paper (such as the moisture-proof paper in a cigarette box), placed in a dry place or in a quicklime box to prevent mold; or put into a double-layer plastic bag, seal it, and refrigerate it in the refrigerator; you can also wrap the cordyceps sinensis and charcoal with paper, put some moutan bark in it, and seal it. In addition, saffron can be stored together with Cordyceps sinensis in a low-temperature and dry place to prevent the Cordyceps sinensis from deteriorating for a long time. Donkey-hide gelatin: Seal with quicklime to prevent breakage. Ladies who love beauty will keep some donkey-hide gelatin, deer antler glue, and tortoise shell glue at home. These Chinese medicines are relatively "delicate" and easily soften when exposed to heat and moisture, but easily break in dry and cold places, so they must be stored with care. It can be wrapped in oil paper, buried in rice bran and stored in an airtight container so that the external moist air can be absorbed by the rice bran, thus protecting the medicine. You can also put it into a double-layer plastic bag, seal it, and store it in a cool and dry place. It is best to place it in a sealed quicklime jar in summer. After knowing and understanding the preservation methods of these Chinese medicines, now you should know how to properly preserve the boiled Chinese medicines, right? Because these medicines are meant to help us better regulate our bodies and treat existing health conditions. If they are not properly stored or taken, they may cause other effects. |
