The drupe is spherical and yellow or brown when ripe. The seeds are spherical and black, and the flowering period is June to July. The fruiting period is from September to October.

It is native to areas south of the Yangtze River in China, various parts of the Indochina Peninsula, India and Japan. ③Treat asthma: Calcined soapberry ash, take with boiled water, 6 fen for children each time, 2 qian for adults each time, once a day, for several days.

④Treatment of food stagnation caused by worms: Take five to seven soapberries, stew them until cooked, and eat once a day for several days.

⑤Treat thick psoriasis: Take appropriate amount of soapberry, boil it with good vinegar, and apply it to the affected area while it is still hot.

⑥Treatment of swollen and painful teeth: 1 liang of soapberry, 1 liang each of rhubarb and cyperus rotundus, 0.5 liang of green salt, grind into mud, and use for brushing teeth daily.

For the treatment of trichomoniasis vaginitis: Take 1 jin of washed and peeled soapberries and add 1000 ml of water to boil into a concentrated liquid. Take 50-100 ml each time and dilute it with 1000 ml of warm water. Irrigate the vagina as usual, once a day, for 7-10 days as a course of treatment. At the same time, take Chinese medicine internally to clear away heat and dampness. All 10 cases were treated and tested negative for Trichomonas after one course of lavage. Five cases were followed up for 2 to 3 months without recurrence; one case recurred after 2 months and was still effectively treated.
