Our country's traditional Chinese medicine culture is profound and extensive, and our country has a wide variety of traditional Chinese medicines, and their medicinal value is irreplaceable. Moutan bark is an important and very common herb in life. It is a root bark belonging to the Ranunculaceae family. It has many special effects. We usually only know that there are many types of Chinese medicines, but we don’t know that each of them has many important medicinal values. Let’s take a look at the medicinal values of Moutan bark. Moutan bark is another name for peony bark, also known as pink moutan bark, strip moutan bark, and wood peony. Peony bark contains peony bark glycosides (which produce paeonol and paeonol glycosides after enzymatic hydrolysis), paeoniflorin, paeoniflorin, volatile oils, sterol bases and phytosterols. Paeonol is the main active ingredient in Paeonia suffruticosa moutan bark. It is volatile and can be distilled out with water vapor under a certain vapor pressure. It is colorless needle-shaped crystals at room temperature and has very low solubility in water. 1. Anticonvulsant effect Experiments have confirmed that peony bark can inhibit the central nervous system to a certain extent and has a sedative and hypnotic effect. The researchers found that intraperitoneal or oral administration of paeonol can reduce the spontaneous activity of mice and significantly prolong the sleep time of mice induced by sodium cyclohexylbarbital. Large doses can cause the disappearance of the positive reflex in mice and have an anticonvulsant effect. 2. Blood pressure lowering effect In the last century, researchers discovered that paeonol has a significant blood pressure lowering effect. Researchers dissolved paeonol in propylene glycol and injected 40 mg/kg body weight intravenously into anesthetized dogs, which produced a transient antihypertensive effect; when given orally to hypertensive dogs, the blood pressure was lowered by more than 20 mmHg and lasted for 9 to 14 hours, during which the heart rate slowed down and the electrocardiogram was normal; when hypertensive rats were gavaged with paeonol peanut oil solution at 0.7 g/kg body weight for 20 days, their blood pressure dropped by 15 to 20 mmHg. 3. Effect on blood rheology The experimental results showed that paeonol can reduce hematocrit, whole blood viscosity, red blood cell aggregation and platelet adhesion, and change red blood cell deformability, indicating that paeonol has an intervention effect in all aspects of thrombosis. Further studies using optimized micropipette aspiration technology showed that paeonol had a significant effect on the deformability of red blood cells. After reading the above content, we have a better understanding of Danpi, and we also know the profoundness of Chinese traditional medicine culture. Traditional Chinese medicine has brought us a lot of convenience. Although Danpi is a traditional Chinese medicine, it is three-point poison. I should still use the medicine according to the doctor's instructions and not take it without authorization, so as not to have adverse effects on the body and cause unnecessary harm. |
