What are the methods for decocting Chinese herbal medicine?

Normally, when we are sick, there are many ways to treat it. Many friends have been receiving treatment with traditional Chinese medicine, and most of them need to take Chinese medicine. The main thing is to decoct the Chinese herbal medicine. The method is the most important when decocting it. Especially when the decoction method is correct, the effect of the medicine will be better. Since it is so important, we need to understand the methods of decocting Chinese herbal medicine through the following introduction.

1. Soak the medicine in cold water for half an hour to an hour before taking it, which is conducive to the precipitation of the active ingredients of the medicine. After adding water, the medicine floating on the water surface should be turned up and down with chopsticks to make the Chinese medicine completely immersed in the water. The water surface should be 2-3cm higher than the Chinese medicine. For large doses and loose and water-absorbing medicines, the amount of water can be appropriately increased.

2. The duration of medication should be determined according to the properties of the medicine. Generally, it is 30 minutes. Antipyretic drugs, heat-clearing drugs, and aromatic drugs should not be decocted for a long time. After boiling on high heat on the gas stove, use the lowest heat to simmer for 25 to 35 minutes. For tonic medicine, use high heat to boil first, then use low heat to simmer for 40-60 minutes. Stir the medicine 2-3 times when decocting it. Each dose of Chinese medicine is generally decocted twice, and the second decocting time can be slightly shorter. (High heat is a big fire, low heat is a small fire)

3. The four most common ways of decocting special medicines are decocting the medicine first, then adding the medicine, dissolving the medicine, and taking the medicine with water. "Decoction the medicine first", boil it for 10-15 minutes, then add other medicines to decoct together; add the medicine last, when the general medicine is about to be decocted to the predetermined amount, add it and decoct it for 5 to 10 minutes; "Dissolve the medicine", when other medicines have been decocted to the predetermined dosage, take the medicine juice, decoct it on low heat, and stir it constantly to dissolve; "Take the medicine with water", add the medicine to the decocted medicine juice or boiling water and take it with water. Other special medicines should be decocted according to the doctor's instructions.

4. How to take the medicine: 1. Decoction one packet a day, 400ml per packet for adults, take 200ml each morning and evening, and half the amount for children, usually taken after meals.

5. Take other special medicines according to doctor's advice.

Through the above introduction, we know what are the methods of decocting Chinese herbal medicines. When decocting, we mainly pay attention to the decocting time, which is the most important thing. Moreover, Chinese herbal medicines need to be stored and drunk slowly after being decocted. It is also necessary to pay attention to the method. Some medicines can be refrigerated, while some medicines cannot be kept at too low a temperature. This should be done according to the doctor's instructions.
