What to do if Cordyceps is moldy

What to do if Cordyceps is moldy

As winter approaches, the weather is damp and cold, and many things will easily become moldy and hairy, including Cordyceps sinensis, which is of great practical value. Because of its high value, many people are very careful about its preservation method, fearing that its precious nourishing effect will be wasted if it is not preserved properly. However, accidents are bound to happen, and it is very likely that mold will occur if left for a long time. So what should we do if Cordyceps becomes moldy?

First of all, we should check the degree of mold of Cordyceps sinensis by breaking it in the middle and observing the color of the cross section:

1The whiter the cross section, the less quality damage

2 The yellower the cross-section color, the more damaged the quality is. There is currently no authoritative clinical trial to show whether eating Cordyceps sinensis whose cross-section color is already yellow is harmful to the human body. Therefore, it is recommended to discard it. When Cordyceps sinensis becomes moldy, it not only reduces its effectiveness or makes it ineffective, it may also cause various side effects or even illnesses.

Remedy:

If the Cordyceps sinensis is severely moldy, wash it with alcohol and cooled hot water, then drain it slightly, place it in a ventilated place to dry, and eat it as soon as possible after drying. If the mold is not particularly serious, you can wash it with white wine and then seal it in a sealed bag. Although the effect may not be obvious, by cleaning with white wine, the effect of disinfection and sterilization can be achieved. Likewise, food should be consumed as soon as possible after washing.

With the above treatment methods, you don’t have to worry about Cordyceps getting moldy. However, for such a valuable health product, it is best to consume it as soon as possible after purchase. After all, the fresher the Cordyceps sinensis is when consumed, the better its effective value can be exerted. Otherwise, you will have to reluctantly throw it away when it becomes moldy and inedible.
