[Original form] Annual or perennial semi-shrubby herb, 30~45 cm high. The stem is slender, much branched, and covered with short soft hairs. The even-pinnate compound leaves are alternate, 4 to 10 cm long, with short petiole base; there are 2 stipules, ovate-lanceolate; there are 25 to 60 pairs of leaflets, sickle-shaped, about 3 to 4 (~8) mm long, about 1 mm wide, with oblique pointed tips. It blooms in the leaf sap in summer, solitary or in short racemes; the pedicels are slender, about 5 mm long; there are 5 sepals, lanceolate; there are 5 petals, yellow, slightly longer than the sepals, about 7 mm, except for the top one which is broadly obovate, the rest are obovate; there are 10 stamens, 5 long and 5 short, alternating between them. The pods are flat and slightly curved, slightly similar to lentils, hence the name, 2.5 to 6 cm long, with a short oblique tip and a long cuneate base, sometimes covered with short soft hairs; there are about 20 seeds inside.

[Habitat distribution] It grows in hillside grass, fields, roadsides and under forests. Distributed in provinces and regions such as Fujian, Taiwan, Guangxi, Guangdong and Yunnan.

[Cultivation] It prefers warm or cool climate and is not very demanding on soil. It can be cultivated in sandy loam or clay loam. For seed propagation, sow directly, spot-seed or in rows in early spring and cover with 5 to 6 fen of soil. After slightly calming down, water it. Dried products of the above are chopped into small pieces and soaked in 1 jin of rice wine for 20 days. Adults take 2 tablespoons each time, every hour, 3 to 4 times a day.
