[Original form] Perennial bald herb. The rhizome runs horizontally. Stem triangular. The leaves are linear, 30 to 50 cm long, with a long pointed tip and bare leaf sheaths. Bracts are leaf-like, linear, and brown; there are many spikes, densely packed into a terminal panicle; scales are light brown, ovate, and arranged in a shingle-like manner; there are 3 stamens; the asci are ovate, with a short beak, and red. The nutlets are ovate-triangular, brown-red, and enclosed in persistent capsules. Flowering period: spring and summer.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on the edge of forests on hillsides or in sparse woods. Distributed in southwest China and other places.
