The efficacy and function of mantis shrimp

[Source] The meat of the Japanese crab or its closely related animals of the family Cercopithecidae.

[Original form] The whole body is covered with a hard carapace, the back is gray-green or brown-red, the head and chest are broad, the carapace is slightly fan-shaped, about 6 cm long and 9 cm wide; there are 6 obvious sharp teeth on the front forehead edge; there are also 6 wide serrations on the front side edge, and there is a pair of eyes with short stalks on both sides of the forehead, which can move. The mouthparts consist of three pairs of maxillary feet, with two pairs of large and small antennae at the front. There are 5 pairs of thoracic limbs, the first pair is powerful chelicerae, and the second to fourth pairs are long and flat. The terminal end is claw-shaped, suitable for crawling; the last pair is flat and wide, and the last segment is plate-shaped, suitable for swimming. The abdomen is degenerate and folded under the head and thorax. There is no tail segment or tail limbs. The abdomen of the female is round, while that of the male is triangular. The abdominal limbs are degenerate and hidden on the inside of the abdomen. The female has 4 pairs for holding eggs; the male has only 2 pairs, and they have been specialized into mating organs.
