[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pilea cochinchinensis of the Urticaceae family.

[Original form] Annual herb, 5-25cm high. The stem is thin, glabrous, erect or ascending, with slightly curved branches at the nodes. Simple leaves, opposite, mainly concentrated at the top of the stem and branches; petiole thin, shorter or slightly longer than the leaf blade; stipules small, triangular, lower ones caducous; leaf blade rhombic ovate or oblong ovate, acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, with 1-4 coarse teeth on each side of the leaf margin; sparsely hairy above, glabrous below; 3 main veins. Flowers are unisexual, monoecious, with male and female flowers mixed, and cymes in axillary; male flowers have 4 tepals; 4 stamens, opposite to the tepals; female flowers have 5 tepals, slightly equal in length, broadly lanceolate; 5 staminodes, scale-like, opposite to the tepals; ovary is ovate, and the stigma is brush-shaped. Achenes ovate. Slightly biconvex, smooth and spotless, extending beyond persistent tepals. The flowering period is July-August, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under hillside forests or in valley wetlands at an altitude of 800-1600m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; promotes diuresis and relieves stranguria; stops bleeding. It is used for painful urination, hematuria, sore throat, milk moth, fetal toxicity in children, erysipelas, leucorrhea, vaginal itching

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 6-9g, fresh product 15-30g.
