[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of Glehnia littoralis, a plant of the Ulmaceae family.

【Original form】 Shrub, about 2m high. The annual branches are reddish brown, densely covered with short soft hairs, which gradually fall off. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 3-10mm long; stipules fall off early; leaf blade is ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 3-9cm long, 1-2.5cm wide, apex acuminate, base rounded or slightly oblique, extremely rough above, densely covered with nipple-like protrusions, densely covered with short soft hairs below, with neat small serrations on the margin; 3 veins at the base, 3-5 pairs of lateral veins. Flowers unisexual, dioecious, in axillary cymes; calyx lobes 5; stamens 5; calyx glabrous, 1-locular, stigmas 2, hairy. The drupe is nearly spherical or ovoid, 2.5-3mm long; the fruit stalk is pubescent. Flowering period is from April to July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on sunny hillsides, valleys or shrub forests.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The complete leaves are ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 3-9cm long, with acuminate apex, rounded base, nearly symmetrical or slightly oblique; with 3 veins, 3-5 pairs of lateral veins; the margin has neat small serrations; the upper surface is rough, densely covered with nipple-like protrusions, and the lower surface is densely covered with light gray soft hairs; the petiole is 3-8mm long and densely covered with short hairs.

【Functions and indications】Detoxification and healing of sores; cooling blood and stopping bleeding; relieving pain. Mainly used for sores and ulcers that do not heal; measles; bleeding from trauma

【Usage and Dosage】 For external use: take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on the affected area; or decoct in water for fumigation and washing.
