The stem is erect, usually with purple wings and many branches. There are several basal leaves with long petioles, which wither when flowering; the stem leaves are alternate, up to 20 cm long, with flat and broad petioles sheath-like, and the leaf blades are narrowly ovate in outline, up to 14 cm long, bipinnately divided, with 9 or 11 lobes in one time, with short petioles, and 5 or 7 lobes in the last time, sessile, deeply to shallowly pinnately lobed, with lanceolate to obovate lobes, and the tip lobe is often unlobed, with notches or coarse teeth. The racemes are terminal or axillary, up to 10-30cm long, with many and dense flowers; bracts are subulate, 2-5mm long; pedicels are 5-7mm long; sepals are triangular, with small teeth on the edges; corolla is light yellow to yellow-green, 9-12mm long, arcuate or flat, accounting for 1/3 of the total length of the petals on the outer wheel, and the upper part of the petals on the inner wheel is reddish purple; ovary is linear, stigma is saddle-shaped, and the tip is short columnar with 4 lobes. The capsule is pendulous, linear, 1.5-2.5cm long, and irregularly wavy.
