[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Tongmaidan, a dicotyledonous medicinal plant of the Apocynaceae family.

[Original form] A soft, winding vine. The stems, petioles, both sides of leaves, peduncles and pedicels are all covered with long, soft, yellow rusty hairs. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 0.5-1cm long; leaf blade is ovate-oblong, 2.5-5.5cm long, 1.5-3cm wide, with acute tip and short tip, nearly cordate base, and about 4 pairs of lateral veins, which are not obvious. The inflorescence is axillary, with several flowers; the peduncle is the same length as the leaves or shorter; the flowers are light green; there are 5 sepals, pubescent on the outside, with 5 glands at the base inside; the corolla is radiate, with oblong lobes, glabrous on the outside and finely hairy on the inside; the corona lobes are ovate, attached to the gynandromorph; there is one pollinia in each locule, which is spherical and flat; there is a round membrane at the tip of the flower; the carpels are free and glabrous; the stigma is pentagonal, with a convex tip. The follicles are twin, forked at 160 degrees, lanceolate, about 4.5 cm long, with a long tail tip at the tip and a curved, hairless end. The seeds are oblong, with edges and a white, silky hair about 2 cm long at the tip. The flowering period is from May to August, and the fruiting period is from August to October.
