[Other names] Strange willow, red strange willow, mountain willow, three spring willow, West Lake willow, red vein willow

[Source] This product is the dried tender branches and leaves of Tamarix chinensis Lour., a plant of the Tamarixaceae family. Harvest in summer before the flowers bloom and dry in the shade.

[Properties] The stems and branches of this product are thin cylindrical, with a diameter of 0.5 to 1.5 mm. The surface is gray-green, with many alternate scaly leaflets. It is brittle and easily broken. The surface of slightly thicker branches is reddish brown, the leaves often fall off, leaving behind the protruding leaf bases, the cross-section is yellow-white, and there is pith in the center. Slight odor, light taste.

[Preparation] Remove old branches and impurities, wash, moisten slightly, cut into sections, and dry in the sun.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, spicy, neutral.
