Does a tree, a bamboo patch, or a bush count as a forest? The answer is surprising!

Forests have been silently supporting human survival and development. But the work we need to do to protect forests is far from enough. Since 1990, more than 420 million hectares of forests have disappeared worldwide, 10 million hectares of forests are destroyed every year, and about 70 million hectares of forests are affected by fires.

The United Nations General Assembly declared March 21 as the International Day of Forests in 2012 to celebrate and raise public awareness of the importance of all types of forests. Countries are encouraged to organize forest and tree-related events at the local, national and international levels.

Today is World Forest Day. Let us pay attention to forest protection and sustainable use and protect the "lungs of the earth".
