A fish has two "hands", and it can't swim, so it has to "walk"?

If someone asks you: Are there any fish that can't swim? You will definitely laugh and look at him with ridicule; but as the saying goes, there are many strange things in the world, and there really is a fish that can't swim, that is the red-lipped batfish living near the waters of the Galapagos Islands.

Although the red-lipped batfish is a fish, it is a poor swimmer. It can be said to be the "most shameful" one in the fish world. Its fins are not like those of ordinary fish. Instead, they are more like feet. They often live on the sand at the bottom of shallow sea water, and they move by walking on their "fins"; what's more interesting is that it also has a "flaming red lips"-like mouth, which looks very strange when matched with its face.

In the temperate waters around Malaysia, due to the abundant sunshine, the coral reefs in the shallow sea area can be exposed to the sun, and the plankton is rich, so it also attracts groups of shallow sea animals to gather here. The underwater world here looks very beautiful and dazzling. The marine life living here can be said to be outstanding in appearance, but there are exceptions to everything, just like the protagonist we are going to talk about today, which has nothing to do with the word beauty. Although it has a flaming red lip, the whole body, no matter how you look at it, has the characteristics of making people laugh, because it is really too ugly. It is the red-lipped batfish.

The red-lipped batfish belongs to the order Rhizoptera, superorder Toadfishes, subclass Angleri. It is closely related to the anglerfish. The body length of a larger individual can reach about 26cm, the whole body is very flat, and the tail is thick and short. The head is also large and flat. The most special thing about it is its mouth, which looks like it has been coated with lipstick and has spikes on it.

Its eyes are large. When the red-lipped batfish reaches adulthood, its dorsal fin develops a sail-like protrusion, which it probably uses to lure prey, just like an anglerfish. Unlike other fish, it has four fins that allow it to walk slowly on the seafloor.

Because red-lipped batfish are not very good at swimming, they often walk on the seabed. They like to prey on shrimps, squids, small fish, crabs, sea worms and seaweed.

They mainly live in the waters of the Galapagos Islands. On the surface, it looks like neither a fish nor a crab, because from the front, it looks like a crab with a distinct diamond-shaped shell, but from the side, it looks like a submarine with a cute tail.

From a high altitude, it looks like an anchor dropped by a ship, with a sharp horn on its head. Looking at the face alone, it looks like a frog, with an unconventional look. It really leaves a deep impression. There are indeed many strange-looking fish here, such as lionfish, pufferfish, etc., but the strange appearance of the red-lipped batfish is really surprising.

It is difficult for the red-lipped batfish to get close to other creatures. Some fish and shrimp will be scared away before it gets close to other creatures. There are also some creatures that will quickly attack the red-lipped batfish when they find that the red-lipped batfish is approaching them.

The red-lipped batfish has a very special movement. It does not twist its body to swim forward like other fish. It moves by jumping up and down on the seabed with the help of its tail and pectoral fins, which is very similar to the jumping fish on the beaches of our country. When there is no danger, they walk on the seabed with the help of leg-like fins.
