The secrets of human health hidden in urine

1. Do you know about urine?

Urine is produced by the kidneys and excreted from the body through the ureters, bladder and urethra. 95-97% of urine is water, followed by metabolic waste, such as common uric acid, urea, creatinine, etc. Urinating can help us regulate the balance of water and electrolytes in the body and remove metabolic waste.

Normal urine is a light yellow, clear and transparent liquid, which can sometimes change from light yellow to dark amber depending on how much water you drink, how much you eat, how much you sweat and how much you move. When the body's metabolism is abnormal or you suffer from a disease, the color and smell of urine can change in a special way.

2. Look at the color of urine

"Come to your left and draw a dragon with me. I'll pee a rainbow on your right." If the color of your urine changes significantly, such as red, dark brown, blue-green, or white, you should pay attention.

Light pink/red

Don't panic. Recall whether you have eaten foods rich in pigments such as beetroot, purple carrot, dragon fruit, or are taking drugs such as rifampicin, metronidazole, daunorubicin, and warfarin. When you stop eating these foods or taking these drugs, your urine will return to normal color.

In addition, for women who are menstruating , menstrual blood can easily mix into urine, causing the urine to turn red, but there is no need to worry about this situation.

If you have not consumed the above-mentioned foods or taken medicines and are not in your menstrual period, red urine may reflect certain diseases in the human body. Among them, gross hematuria is more common in diseases such as renal tuberculosis, renal tumors, kidney stones, urinary tract stones, acute glomerulonephritis, and cystitis .

Dark yellow

When you drink less water or sweat a lot, the frequency and amount of urination will also decrease accordingly, and the urine will be dark yellow. Therefore, the color of most people's first urine in the morning is dark yellow, because the human body is in a state of dehydration after a night of metabolism, and it is difficult to replenish water in time during sleep. At this time, just drink a glass of water and the color of urine will change.

Also, taking certain medications, such as vitamin B, can turn your urine bright yellow.

If the urine is dark yellow, looks like soybean oil, has a certain consistency, and is foamy after shaking, it is suspected to be jaundice hepatitis, acute pancreatitis, gallstones and other diseases.

Tan, black

The color of urine is close to brown or black, and looks like soy sauce. This may be caused by old hematuria, intravascular hemolysis, severe kidney disease, melanoma , etc.

Milky white, turbid urine

It looks white and turbid, and may be purulent urine caused by severe urinary tract suppurative infection, prostatitis , etc.

White chyluria that looks like milk can be seen in filariasis, perinephric lymphatic obstruction , etc.

Dark green

If the urine is dark green, you may be suffering from primary hypercalcemia, vitamin D poisoning, cholera, typhus, etc., and you should seek medical treatment immediately.

3. Smell the urine

Many people think that urine has a "smell of urine". In fact, the smell of normal urine is not strong, with a slight smell of ammonia.

If the smell of urine becomes stronger, it may indicate a health problem. For example, patients with ketoacidosis may smell rotten apples in their urine, patients with vesicocolonic fistula may have feces in their urine, and patients with diabetes may have a sweet fruit smell because their urine contains a lot of sugar.

In addition, if you eat asparagus, garlic, onions, shallots or medicines with special smells, your urine may also have the special smell of these substances.

4. Ask about urine volume and frequency

Normal people excrete 1000~2000 ml of urine per day, with urination frequency of 4~6 times during the day and 1~2 times at night. The amount of water you drink, the amount of sweat you sweat, weather factors, mental stress and other factors can also cause changes in urine volume and frequency.

Diabetic patients may drink more and urinate more frequently. Patients with urinary tract infection, prostatic hyperplasia and other diseases may experience frequent urination. For patients with urinary tract infection, they may also experience symptoms such as urgency, burning pain, stinging and distending pain in the urethra.

So friends, don't be disgusted with your urine

It is a barometer of our health.

If you suspect that your urine is not right

It is best to go to the hospital for relevant examination as soon as possible.
