Many people who want to lose weight have a resistance to meat, thinking that eating meat will make them fat, while some people think that eating too much meat will easily lead to high blood pressure and high blood lipids, so many people have become vegetarians, eating only vegetables and not meat. However, if you blindly eat only vegetables and not meat, it may bring some adverse effects to your body.

What would happen if you only ate vegetarian food and no meat every day?

If you don't eat meat often, your brain will be "very hurt". The "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents" clearly states that meat provides us with rich high-quality protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. These nutrients can help us maintain various functions of the body. Compared with the protein in plant foods, the protein contained in the meat we eat contains a full range of essential amino acids, sufficient quantities and reasonable proportions, so it is easier for the human body to absorb and utilize. The normal functioning of the brain and nervous system requires the help of protein. If you don't eat meat often, the brain will not be able to obtain comprehensive nutrition.

Secondly, many people stay away from cholesterol, especially some elderly people with "three highs" problems in their bodies. They regard cholesterol as a "scourge", thinking that cholesterol is harmful and they wish they could eat vegetarian food every day. In fact, cholesterol is also an indispensable nutrient for the human body. It is not only one of the structural components of the body, but also the raw material for synthesizing many important substances.

Cholesterol is widely found in animals, while plant foods generally do not contain cholesterol. If you do not eat meat for a long time and only eat vegetarian food, and avoid eating foods containing cholesterol, it may bring health risks, such as anemia, and may also affect the function of the nervous system and reduce the function of the human immune system. However, you should not consume a large amount of cholesterol for a long time, as it will increase the cholesterol content in the serum and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Not eating meat for a long time can not only easily lead to problems of high-quality protein and cholesterol deficiency, but it can also cause damage to the brain due to the lack of another very important nutrient, which is vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 is known as the hematopoietic vitamin. It is essential for cell regeneration and hematopoiesis, and is an important component for promoting human metabolism. Vitamin B12 can promote the development and maturation of red blood cells, keep the body's hematopoietic function in a normal state, and maintain the health of the nervous system. It is also an indispensable vitamin for the healthy function of the nervous system. Vitamin B12 is also involved in the synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Vitamin B12 is almost only found in animal foods, and there is very little in plant foods. If you do not eat meat for a long time, it is easy to lack vitamin B12. If you have symptoms such as loss of appetite, indigestion, tongue inflammation, and loss of taste, it is a warning sign of vitamin B12 deficiency.

Once this nutrient is lacking in the diet, it will not only lead to pernicious anemia, but also cause many harms to brain health, leading to brain damage, manifested as difficulty walking, stuttering, dull expression, etc.

Balanced diet

No single food can provide all the nutrients needed by the human body, so in daily life we should choose a reasonable diet structure and consume a variety of foods such as cereals and potatoes, vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, milk, aquatic products, etc. to ensure the amount of protein and fat supplied to the human body.

Reasonable combination is the guarantee of balanced diet. The visual combination of the balanced diet pagoda of Chinese residents follows the principle of balanced diet and reflects the ideal basic food composition in terms of nutrition. The pagoda is divided into 5 layers. The bottom of the pagoda is cereals and tubers; the second layer is vegetables and fruits; the third layer is fish, poultry, meat, eggs and other animal foods; the fourth layer is milk, soybeans and nuts; the fifth layer is cooking oil and salt. The size of each layer is different, reflecting the amount of the five major food categories and food.

A reasonable diet structure is the correct lifestyle habit. Only the combination of vegetarian and meat food can supplement the various substances needed by the human body and make people have a healthy body.
