Why does hair loss become more severe the more you exercise?

I saw a statement online that "some people lose their hair because the excessive oil secretion on the scalp clogs the pores. Through proper exercise and training, these oils can be effectively dissolved and discharged, and the oxygen content of the scalp can be increased, so that the scalp can get fresh breathing. At the same time, exercise speeds up the body's blood circulation, making the passage of nutrients to the hair follicles more unobstructed, thereby preventing hair loss."

If some people who have just experienced hair loss see this, they may believe it directly. However, for those who really understand hair loss, they can see the real mistake at a glance - most hair loss is androgenic alopecia, which is caused by genetics and dihydrotestosterone, and has nothing to do with the so-called scalp oil blockage. So what about the so-called exercise? It is naturally impossible to alleviate hair loss, and it may even aggravate hair loss!

Causes of Hair Loss

Many friends who don’t understand hair loss often ask a series of questions such as whether staying up late will cause hair loss, whether masturbation will cause hair loss, whether frequent hair washing will cause hair loss, etc. But in fact, there is only one factor that determines whether or not you will lose hair - genetics. If you do not have the genetic gene for hair loss, even if you wash your hair every night, stay up late and masturbate, you will not suffer from a lot of hair loss (this is indeed the current situation of many people in summer). If you unfortunately have the hair loss gene, then you have to be careful.

As mentioned above, hair loss is caused by both genetic genes and dihydrotestosterone. Genetics determines whether you will lose hair, while dihydrotestosterone determines the extent and duration of your hair loss. Dihydrotestosterone is the main male androgen, and although women also secrete a small amount of androgen, it is still much lower than that of men, so the probability of hair loss in women is much lower than that of men, and the degree of hair loss in women is often not that serious.

What's the connection between exercise and hair loss?

Exercise can increase the level of DHT in the body, and DHT is the root cause of hair loss, so exercise indirectly aggravates hair loss. Of course, not all exercises will affect DHT concentration. They can be roughly divided into aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. Relatively speaking, anaerobic exercise has a greater impact. Some scientists have found that when fitness enthusiasts perform anaerobic exercise, after completing a stage of fitness, their testosterone levels will increase by 25%, and the increase in testosterone will further increase DHT concentration.
