Playing in the snow for a long time can lead to this disease? Learn more about "snow blindness"

The temperature has dropped sharply in many places in the past few days, and even snow has fallen in many places.

When I wake up in the morning, I can see a vast expanse of white outside the window. I always feel that the winter is complete with snow, so that everyone can happily make snowmen and have snowball fights.

But, do you know? Playing is playing, but you may get sick if you are not careful!

That is to say, if you play in the snow for a long time, you may get snow blindness. Let's get to know it together!

It turns out that "snow blindness" is caused by strong sunlight reflecting off the snow, which damages the cornea and conjunctival epithelium, thus causing inflammation called "electric conjunctivitis."

There is usually a stinging or burning sensation in the eyes, and there is even a risk of temporary blindness, which often occurs in the snow and on glaciers in the mountains.

Therefore, everyone should try not to play in the snow for too long on a sunny day. It is best to limit it to 1 to 2 hours.

If you think the time is too short and you are not satisfied, you should take protective measures for your eyes. You can wear sunglasses to prevent strong light from irritating your eyes.
