Beware! The "baby walking gadgets" that parents often use when taking their kids out may cause injuries to their children

After the beginning of autumn, the weather gradually turns cooler, and many parents can't wait to take their children out for an autumn outing. When I took my child out for the first time, I thought we would go out together, holding hands. But it turned out to be: "Mom, I want to carry you!"

At this time, the "baby stroller" has become a savior for parents. It is light and foldable, saving many fathers who are forced to act as "baby strollers" at home.

But are baby strollers really reliable? As strollers get smaller, does their quality also decrease?

This year, Daddy Test bought 5 popular baby strollers priced between 80 and 358 yuan to test those items that previously had a zero pass rate - stability, dangerous cracks and pinch points, and dynamic durability.

1. Stability First, let’s take a look at the stability of the baby stroller.

Many parents are eager to buy baby strollers because they are worried that they are not stable enough. When taking children out, it is inevitable to encounter ups and downs, and there are often gravel roads in the community landscape roads. These difficult roads happen to be the main battlefields for using baby strollers. Therefore, its stability is very important. If it is unstable and rolls over, it is likely to cause the child to fall and get injured.

We used an experiment to simulate the scenario of using a baby stroller on a slope:

Place the stroller on a 12° slope and fasten a 30-jin test weight to the backrest to simulate a child sitting in the stroller. Then, push the stroller from the front, back, left, and right directions to check whether the stroller tipped over or the seat locking device was damaged.

After testing, it was found that sample No. 5 had tipped over. If a child really sat in such a stroller, he might fall and get a bloody head if he was not careful.

Second, will it pinch your hands? In addition to tipping over and causing injuries, for curious children, the baby stroller may also become a weapon that pinches their hands.

According to GB 14748-2006 "Safety Requirements for Child Strollers", when a child sits in a stroller, there must be no dangerous gaps that could trap the child's hands or feet.

However, tests have shown that there is a dangerous gap in the armrest of No. 5, which may trap children's fingers.

3. Is it durable? Finally, a good baby stroller should be durable.

As a parent, the most desperate thing is to take your child out alone and give him a stroller to sit on. But it breaks down halfway, and you can only hold the child with one hand and lift the stroller with the other. You wish you could just throw it away.

Dynamic durability tests the overall structural strength of the baby stroller, requiring that after being used on bumpy roads, no screws will loosen, handles will fall off, pipes will break, or wheels will fall off.

Just like when we ride a bike on the road, we can’t let the wheel fall off while we’re riding…

The same goes for baby strollers. If parts suddenly fall off or break, parents may suddenly lose control of the stroller, causing the children in the stroller to tip over, fall or collide. The degree of danger is self-evident.

To test dynamic durability, we place a loaded vehicle on a conveyor belt with obstacles and make the vehicle repeatedly hit the obstacles at a speed of 5km/h.

The results are as follows:

Among them, the No. 5 had problems after 67 collisions. In actual use, the service life of No. 5 may only be one week. And No. 1 and No. 2 are also far from the standard.

Based on the results of three tests, we recommend two baby strolling gadgets:

Dad Review found that many manufacturers produce crude and unsafe baby strollers because “there is no national standard for baby strollers.”

This is just an excuse for some manufacturers to gain more profits! Obviously, the baby stroller meets the definition of a child stroller and should comply with GB 14748-2006 "Safety Requirements for Child Strollers" and should not be in a "gray area" without standards.

When parents buy baby strollers, they should keep their eyes open and look for 3C certification (China Compulsory Certification) and avoid buying products without any certification.

If you don't see it on the product details page, you can ask customer service for confirmation.

Starting with a safe baby stroller, I hope every child can go out happily and come home safely.
