Ministry of Commerce: In 2025, the national online New Year's Festival retail sales will exceed 700 billion yuan, setting a new record

The Ministry of Commerce announced at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office that the 2025 National Online New Year Festival has officially started. This is the first national online consumption promotion event after the successful application of the Spring Festival for World Heritage status.

It is reported that this year's New Year Goods Festival adopts the "3+N" format, that is, holding 3 key activities, linking various regions and platforms, and holding more special consumption activities around consumption hotspots such as catering, shopping, entertainment, and tourism during the Spring Festival to jointly welcome the Year of the Snake.

According to business big data, since the launch of the event, various regions have organized more than 400 supporting activities around Spring Festival consumption hotspots such as catering, shopping, entertainment, and tourism, and online retail sales have exceeded 700 billion yuan .

The 2025 National Online New Year’s Goods Festival will be held from January 7 to February 5. This is the fifth consecutive year that China has held the “National Online New Year’s Goods Festival” .

The National Online New Year Goods Festival is jointly guided and organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the State Post Bureau and the China Consumers Association.

In comparison, during the 2024 National Online New Year Festival, the national online retail sales were approximately 1.2 trillion yuan, with an average daily growth of nearly 9% year-on-year.

This shows that with the popularity and convenience of online consumption, online shopping during the Spring Festival has become the choice of more and more consumers.
