Douyin: In 2023, Douyin's e-commerce shelf scene GMV will increase by 86% year-on-year, and new merchants will increase by 83% year-on-year

At the recent 2024 Douyin e-commerce author festival, Wei Wenwen, president of Douyin e-commerce, said that in the past year, Douyin e-commerce GMV (gross merchandise volume) increased by 46% year-on-year. Although this figure has slowed down compared to 320% and 80% in 2023 and 2022, it still maintains a strong growth momentum. Compared with 10%+ and JD.com's single-digit growth, Douyin e-commerce's growth rate is still impressive.

Wei Wenwen also revealed that the GMV of Douyin's e-commerce shelf scene increased by 86% year-on-year, the number of new merchants increased by 83% year-on-year, the average daily broadcast time of e-commerce live broadcast rooms increased by 33% year-on-year, and the number of e-commerce authors with GMV exceeding 10 million increased by 52% year-on-year.

In terms of user volume, Douyin's daily active users remain at around 600 million. In fact, as early as four years ago, Douyin announced that the number of daily active users, including the Douyin Volcano version, exceeded 600 million. These users have also become the source of Douyin's e-commerce growth.

According to Wei Wenwen, Douyin e-commerce has become a shopping platform with a large scale, fast growth and active ecology. In the past year, 3.8 billion traffic has poured into the live broadcast room every day, and user after-sales satisfaction has increased by 13% compared with last year.

Wei Wenwen also said that the continuous development of the platform also brings huge opportunities for authors. Douyin e-commerce has also become the main business battlefield for e-commerce authors. There are more than 2 million young e-commerce authors aged 18-25, the number of new e-commerce authors who have settled in and generated sales exceeds 7.53 million, and the number of MCN agencies has exceeded 27,000.
