CNNIC: China's online retail sales will reach 15.4 trillion yuan in 2023, ranking first in the world for 11 consecutive years

Recently, according to the 53rd "Statistical Report on the Development of China's Internet" released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), as of December 2023, the scale of online shopping users in China reached 915 million, accounting for 83.8% of the total Internet users.

In 2023, the national online retail sales reached 15.4 trillion yuan, ranking first in the world for 11 consecutive years.

Among them, online retail sales of physical goods increased by 8.4% over the previous year, with the growth rate accelerating by 2.2 percentage points over the previous year; the proportion of online retail sales in the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 27.6%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points over the previous year.

From the perspective of the entire e-commerce industry, my country's cross-border e-commerce maintained rapid growth in 2023, with the total import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce reaching 2.38 trillion yuan, an increase of 15.6%.

Consumption of domestic "trendy products", green consumption, and smart product consumption have become a major growth point for online shopping.

Users who have purchased domestic products online account for 58.3% of all online shopping users; users who have purchased green products online account for 29.7% of all online shopping users.

Users who have purchased smart products such as smart home appliances and wearable devices account for 21.8% of the total online shopping users.
