Amadeus: Tribe of Travellers 2033

Amadeus: Tribe of Travellers 2033

According to the report "Traveler Tribes 2033", four "traveler tribes" will be formed in the next 10 years. This survey studies the future forces that will change travel, as well as the emerging characteristics, behaviors and preferences of travelers, to understand the real needs of travelers from now to the next decade.

20% of Chinese people belong to this group, who have a "try and see" mentality towards life and travel. Globally, 44% of this group do not have children, and they have medium to high incomes and flexible work options, which allows them to explore the world at any time. They have a "you only live once" (YOLO) mentality. More willing to follow your feelings than other travelers, making them the "anti-planners" of 2033, who like unexpected and more exciting accommodation experiences. They are also open to technologies that can make the journey smoother, and many of them are looking forward to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the airport environment.

The survey found that only 14% of Chinese people are in this group, and they take a relatively simplistic attitude towards travel: to create memories and visit attractions. Globally, 44% of people in this group are over 41 years old, and their travel behavior has become a habit. They value personal experience the most, are not so concerned about technology and sustainability, and are used to traveling in the existing way. However, despite their skepticism about technology, they are still excited about preview tours of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and most of them are looking forward to using VR for previews before purchasing travel services.

Surprisingly, only 12% of Chinese are considered to be in this group, which includes today’s young business travelers, with a forward-looking view of the future. Globally, 48% of this group are under the age of 32, and their perspective is marked by how much technology they own. However, they are conflicted about what aspects of future technology and travel excite and worry them. While many want to travel sustainably, they seem to be more focused on sustainable choices in how they travel rather than where they stay.

The study found that more than half (55%) of Chinese people are in this group. People in this group lead fast-paced lives and are always eager for the next adventure. Globally, they are in their prime, and 82% of people in this group are between 23 and 41 years old. They like to plan, but they are not afraid to take risks and are open to new experiences. People in this group are more willing to let sustainability influence their decisions than others. In 2033, they will also be very comfortable using various payment methods, whether using cryptocurrency or in a virtual reality environment.
