China Payment and Clearing Association: WeChat Pay will be more popular than Alipay in 2022, and 80% of mobile payment users earn less than 10,000 yuan per month

In order to fully and deeply understand the current status of mobile payment business applications and accurately grasp the basic attributes of individual users and changes in usage habits, the Internet Payment Application Working Committee of the China Payment and Clearing Association conducted a survey on user basic attributes, user usage preferences and other aspects.

Data shows that QR code payment is still the most commonly used payment method for mobile payment users. In offline scenarios, the payment products most commonly used by mobile payment users are WeChat Pay, Alipay and UnionPay, accounting for 87.9%, 85.3% and 80.3% respectively.

Young and middle-aged users are the main users of mobile payment, and the number of older users is growing steadily. Among them, users aged 18-40 account for 70% of the total users, and users over 40 years old account for 30% of the total users.

The monthly income of mobile payment users is concentrated between 3,000 and 10,000 yuan, accounting for 65%, users with monthly income above 10,000 yuan account for 20%, and users with monthly income below 3,000 yuan account for 15%.
