Statista, an internationally renowned data analysis company, released a survey report on "China's Technology Giants in 2019" this week. The results show that local companies have an absolute leading position in China's digital payment market, with Alipay ranking first. Statista conducted an online survey of 2,003 Chinese respondents aged 18 to 69. Among all respondents, 87% said they used Alipay, ahead of WeChat Pay's 76%. QQ Wallet, Du Xiaoman Payment and Apple Pay ranked third to fifth, but the gap between them and the top two was obvious. Statista pointed out that China is a global leader in digital payments, both online and offline, and 60% of respondents said they use digital financial services every day. In China's digital payment industry, local companies are clearly ahead of foreign services. There is a clear gap in the services provided by large American technology companies such as Apple, Google and Amazon, and even PayPal, a pioneer in online payments, has difficulty opening up this market. The data shows that it is not easy to make progress in the highly competitive Chinese market, even for international giants. |
