AIE: Chinese mobile buyers prefer shopping after 9pm, accounting for 45.1%

According to a survey by Analysys International Enfodesk, Chinese mobile shoppers are night owls. In March 2015, Analysys International Enfodesk surveyed Chinese mobile shoppers (including teenagers and adults) about their favorite shopping time, and nearly half said it was after 9 p.m.

The response rates for other time periods did not exceed 20%. The second most popular mobile shopping time period was from 3pm to 6pm, accounting for 17.7%.

According to the survey, most Chinese mobile shopping does not happen on the road. Respondents who like to shop at night said they shop most often at home or in their dormitories, with 85.2% of Chinese mobile buyers saying this is their main shopping location. Another 9.1% of respondents often shop online at work or school. Only 1.8% of respondents said their main mobile shopping location is public places, such as restaurants or supermarkets.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, a survey by Interactive Advertising Bureau Singapore and We Are Social found that 27% of Chinese people had used mobile phones to shop in the past month. According to iResearch Consulting Group, mobile is taking an increasing share of China's retail and C2C e-commerce, with 47.8% of sales expected to come from mobile platforms in the first quarter of 2015.
